Advent day 11

Today we woke to Alfie the elf swinging from the children's bedroom door handle from a cute mini paper chain.

Id cut some patterned paper in to strips late last night, (think midnight...yawn!) as gypsies asked if she could make some.He must have been watching me and fancied a go.

Today advent activity was to deliver Christmas cards to our neighbours . Seemed like a bit of a long shot as id only written one and gypsies , Charlie were not intending on getting dressed.  But I sat and wrote them this morning and Jasmine delivered them this afternoon .

Summer spent a while making paper chains with Gypsies this afternoon and she also made a candle in a small glass from scraps of wax from tealights and some coloured bees wax.she also made some cute little Santa hats from strawberries dipped in white chocolate.

Jasmine has been give some duck eggs from my mum and dad and she put them to good use in a mickey mouse chocolate fudge cake.

My nesting instinct has had me cleaning down the hall and kitchen walls and skirting boards and i got a lot of help with that from Evie as she followed me closely with a spray bottle and cloth.

Advent day 10

We have had a good day today.

we woke to find Alfie the Elf sat upon the kitchen table .He had taken all the necessary items from the cupboards for us to make some cone Christmas trees.

I had made lists of things i needed to sort out .Things i needed for the home birth, things i needed for the baby ,things i need incase i need to go to hospital and Christmas  gifts that needed to be brought.

i thought id tackle all of this online and was pleasantly surprised to find my Tesco club card points covered the cost of all the baby essentials.

Once id ticked of all but two items that im still dithering about on my lists, i got the kids room tidied and the kitchen clean, sorted the drying and washing and put dinner in the slow cooker. The children had been happily amused all morning , using the wii , doing puzzles and playing .Oh and Evie gave herself a make over with summers lipstick .

we ate lunch and then i set up the  table for them to make the Christmas tree cones. My sister knocked at the door just in time for her children to join in with the fun too. Summer especially impressed us with the details on her trees. Everyone had a great time decorating and eating !

Charlie and my niece and nephew also enjoyed playing in all the leaves out on the drive. picking up handfuls and throwing them and kicking them too.

Jasmine went out for a walk around the village with my sister just before dinner.

Gypsies has found a new game online that shes enjoying and summer has been happily playing on simms , where she has made our family.

This evening Charlie remembered the activity in today advent stocking was to make mince pies. I oiled the tray for him and he made the pies all by himself . They taste as good as they look.

We  had hoped to watch a Christmas film today but we have simply run out of time....
still there is always tomorrow !

Advent day two 2013

We have had another great day today.

Late last night I chalked up our board with a st Nicholas verse.

The activity suggestion in our advent calendar was to slice and dry some oranges to make Christmas decorations . Gypsies and summer did the slicing and our house smells beautiful now ...they are still on the oven as I type.

We also found a message written on the lounge mirror .it read " I miss the north pole ...find me somewhere cold.....Alfie xxx" It would seem poor Alfie is home sick. Summer discovered him in the freezer.
They decided to make Alfie more at home by making him his own north pole on white Styrofoam trays with lots of stuffing as fake snow and silver glitter. I'm sure he feels much happier now!

Charlie and I read a St Nicholas story called  'Little Piccola' and then he drew a picture from the story of a swallow in a wooden shoe.

Gypsie studied the legacy of Jesus . We read about how you would go about becoming a priest or a nun and she wrote out a nun quote from Mother Teresa.

"If we were humble nothing would change us,
neither praise nor discouragement .
If someone were to criticise us we would not feel discouraged .
If someone would praise us we also would not feel proud."

Jasmine has moved on from the reproduce system to the respiratory system.
She wrote out some biblical quotes for hand writing practice and drew and labeled a diagram of the lungs .

Eva was at the table drawing and spent a while dancing with summer who was stretching , doing the splits and general putting herself in what looked like very uncomfortable poses .

We ate lunch and then the health visitor arrived an hour earlier than I expected .she therefore was greeted with a  "hello come in ,sorry about the mess !!!"  As we all scrambled about the lounge picking up stray noodles and crisp! Just to add to the chaos my grocery delivery arrived minutes after she sat down.Lucky for me the girls were very helpful and packed it all away for me.

Anyway the health visitor left having written in her notes that Eva was thriving and has grown in confidence. And that I was expecting my sixth baby (had to correct her as she thought it was our with) in five weeks time but although full of cold I was otherwise well . I agreed that she could do babys check ups when he or she is born . I told her outright that we co-sleep and I intend to tandem feed Eva and the newborn . It wasn't met with any concern .

This afternoon we went on a long walk through the lanes down to the harbour ,where we enjoyed a drink at the cafe and a chat with a swan. Apparently Charlie and summer recognise the number on the tag round it's leg and its the same swan they named Taylor (after the singer Taylor Swift ) back in the summer months !

It was a lovely afternoon.

Now this mummy is very tired as is Eva who fell asleep around seven on the sofa!
