The diary of a home educating mum of six living an intentionally simple life. I hope to show others this beautiful and lawful way to nurture and educate their children without school .

A Jam packed kind of day!
Main lessons were completed .Jasmine wrote more about Columbus' voyages.summer studied Egyptian food and farming and Charlie got on with two more paragraphs for his months of the year block.
My help was mostly required with Gypsie. After completing a page on colour wheels in her main lesson book She did two experiments. The first was making a secondary colour wheel in to a spinner . when spun very fast all seven colours merge and you see them as white.
The second experiment was to create a rainbow using a tub of water with a mirror at a 45° angle half submerged at one end. she shone the torch upon the submerged part of the mirror and we discussed the way that the light reflect at slightly different angles resulting in a rainbow.
Gypsie spent a long time writing up methods and conclusions in her main lesson book and before we knew it it was time for lunch.
once we were all fed and watered the kids all went off in different directions. summer chatted to friends with reborn dolls on line, Gypsie gave Eva a tattoo using a kit she got for Christmas and there was some dancing too. Charlie used the computer briefly and then watched some cartoons.
Jasmine used this time to bake a cake for her cousins birthday tomorrow !
summer then decided that she would make her cousin some shortbread as a birthday gift. After that we headed out for a walk to the shop . we purchased a new magazine that teaches all about the body . The first issue contains the bottom and front of the skull. upon returning home the children got on with some craft kits that id got in the post today from the Baker Ross website. summer made a foam cupcakes purse and Jasmine and Charlie opted for mini owl cushions ! This evening Jas decorated her cousins cake.Im pretty sure little Tegan will love it. xxx

Advent day 11
Today we woke to Alfie the elf swinging from the children's bedroom door handle from a cute mini paper chain.
Id cut some patterned paper in to strips late last night, (think midnight...yawn!) as gypsies asked if she could make some.He must have been watching me and fancied a go.
Today advent activity was to deliver Christmas cards to our neighbours . Seemed like a bit of a long shot as id only written one and gypsies , Charlie were not intending on getting dressed. But I sat and wrote them this morning and Jasmine delivered them this afternoon .
Summer spent a while making paper chains with Gypsies this afternoon and she also made a candle in a small glass from scraps of wax from tealights and some coloured bees wax.she also made some cute little Santa hats from strawberries dipped in white chocolate.
Jasmine has been give some duck eggs from my mum and dad and she put them to good use in a mickey mouse chocolate fudge cake.
My nesting instinct has had me cleaning down the hall and kitchen walls and skirting boards and i got a lot of help with that from Evie as she followed me closely with a spray bottle and cloth.

Wednesday already !!!!
Today we woke up to lots of wind and rain.
I also woke to a nice clean kitchen.I assumed it was Paul i heard in the kitchen yesterday evening but it was actually summer! she also left a message made of cards for me to find.
Summer got straight up n decided to make iced lat'e and chocolate chip cookies....it turns out none of us liked the iced coffee and the cookies were burnt but its the effort that counts!
she also made some rainbow cupcakes that were very yummy .so yummy that i didn't get a photo before they were eaten.
Jasmine produced two pages in.her MLB about the solar system and Australian myths and legends relating to the zodiac.
Gypsie did a page of writing all about Hadrians wall and summer spent some time working on some worksheets about Hinduism. she started making a paper shrine too.
I read the story of " The dog and the wolf" to Charlie and he attempted to build a dog out of lego .
