festivities

 Festivities......

This week has been full of fun.

We  have spent a lot of time baking and creating and i have spent a lot of time sitting .Feeling exhausted .Still the seasons don't wait for any one , least not a poorly mumma. So in good mummy fashion i have tried to do the absolute minimum without spoiling any of the fun.

I think i achieved it !

Well all the necessities have been taken care of , you know , the toffee apple making, trick or treating , guy making  fireworks and such like!

I'm not sure what any celebrity chef would make of our toffee apples but we had to be inventive and without any lolly sticks or kebab skewers to hand we opted for utensils ! And after telling the kids to be careful a million times i managed to burn my finger quite badly .

Having read of lovely idea of BOO-ing . we decided to opt in for some small scale , Practise run type booing of our own. (we only BOO-ed Nanny and Grandad)

Gypsie baked honey and raisin flapjack and summer made the delicious biscuits.

For anyone not familiar with booing , basically  BOO-ing is a friendly tradition for Halloween fun.

To start a Halloween BOO, one neighbour secretly leaves a small gift basket, a BOO poem, BOO instructions and a BOO sign at a neighbour's doorstep.
The lucky BOO-ee is asked to post the sign near the door, alerting others that "We've Been BOO-ed!" That way, new BOO recruits won't leave a duplicate BOO on the doorstep.
In turn, the neighbour is asked to BOO two other households, leading to a chain reaction--and Halloween fun.

If any one fancies a go next year here's a link.

Wednesday was Halloween , the morning was spent baking . i feel so redundant sometimes , i didn't bake anything but the birthday cake for charlies party. And even then I was helped !  But i suppose Its great how they are all so independent in the kitchen .

The afternoon was spent crafting, painted glass jars and the making of a big spider from which anyone trick or treating our home , had to put in there hand to take out there treat! This was all jasmines idea and her and summer made a great job!

The evening just couldn't come quick enough for my little ones!

After an evening spent walking round the village  came the sweet trading , baths and bed , before waking up to Charlies sixth birthday .Its unbelievable that my baby boy can be six already.

He had a lovely day , made even more lovely but the fact we eventually got our new rabbit.

                                                          Meet Simba...isn't she cute?

Friday was all souls day , we discussed the meaning behind the day and i baked soul cakes .

Yesterday Paul took Summer and Charlie off to Newport to buy some things for the rabbit and some wood to build a partition wall for her hutch.
Later we were visited by one of my brothers and his wife. They came bearing gifts for charlie and we enjoyed there company and some warm drinks.
Last night was our local bonfire night celebration ...what a palaver that was. we were marginally to late to enter the guy competition . Then after waiting in the wind and rain for what felt like forever, (would have felt even longer still if i hadn't had my lovely uncle and aunt with me too) there came an announcement that the power pack was faulty. there was going to be at least another half hour delay. We came home and watched from our lovely warm home.

Today has been a nice day , just a normal Sunday , although  Charlie was treated to a trip to dinosaur isle by my brother thank you Uncle Allan !

And that just about brings you up to date .

Autumn blessings xxx
