Just winging it

There were no plans for today .
The kids chose there own paths ,they were free to do as they pleased and I was happy to assist should they need me.

We had a bag of clothes that we had sorted out over the weekend to take to the charity shop and my goodness me Evie literally had a SMASHING time in there!!! she acidently knocked a tea pot off a shelf. My initial reaction was to shout her name but it was because I was frightened she may have hurt herself not angry. Her initial reaction was to cry and cuddle her biggest sister.
I am thankful that the volunteers in the shop were only concerned with Evas safety and told her not to worry and although I offered to pay for the tea pot they wouldn't accept my offer.

Jasmine spotted a soap making set and I found myself a dress too and by the time we had got out that shop and into the next to pick up some groceries Evie had forgotten her ordeal.

Charlie didn't come out with us this morning .instead he chose to stay home with Paul and help him with some mechanics.

Gypsie also stayed at home and surfed the internet.

Once back home we all ended up watching Eva's current favourite DVD (Barbie's perfect christmas) with her, mainly because we all love watching her sing and dance along to it.

Summer and Gypsie sewed some felt decorations for our Easter tree before lunch.

After lunch with everyone else busy and RobbIe napping (he needed it too seen as he had insisted I get up with him at 4.45 am)  I could give Eva my undivided attention. She decided to sew an Easter decoration . she did a fab job hardly requiring my input at all.And happily singing "I Dont need any help"

The three youngest girls all spent time colouring in some Easter cards and
later on Gypsie baked some gorgeous cookies and Summer performed a surface tention experiment useing milk, food dye and washing up liquid.

Jasmine made some soap which smells absolutely gorgeous and then she met up with my sister and they went for a walk around the village together.

This evening we were really excited to watch a fox scurrying around the garden. I'm glad the hens are secure!

Good Friday

Good Friday has been and almost gone and not a whiff of a hot cross bun!

I don't think I'm alone here, on most days I set myself little tasks that I want to get done on top of all my daily chores .
Today I wanted to clean the kitchen chairs and put the new cushions on them display the new to us alphabet letters and months of the year cards and clean the bedroom window ....

I managed to get this done in dribs and drabs as and when the baby slept or was being snuggled by a helpful sister .

BUT when I asked if anyone fancied making hot cross buns with me no one felt enthusiastic enough .

so yeah. I sit her totally bunless !!!

We have had a lovely day though.Jasmine wrote out all the Easter cards that they all made yesterday morning ready to be delivered shortly.

I took a walk down to the sea with all the children but summer this afternoon. The sun was bright and warm too.

I returned home to Summer cleaning up in the kitchen and Paul loading the dishwasher .she had made raw cookie dough and some treats for the hamster too.

Jasmine finished making her totally gorgeous Baltic eggs todAy too.

Easter fun and more spring sun!

This morning Charlie decided he wanted to make an Easter garden. We headed out to the green house were he filled up a box [I had cut off the lid ] with compost. He used a cardboard tomato punnet for the cave in which jesus' body was placed and found a big rock to place over the entrance. He made a small mound of compost in one corner and covered the miniature  garden in moss and pebbles .Charlie found two sticks and I used an elastic band to join the two to form a cross to show where Jesus was crucified . Summer showed me a YouTube tutorial on Easter bunny bread last night , whilst I was attempting to have a bath! This facilitating the children's learning is non stop I tell you!!!! I told her we would defiantly make some in the morning, so of course we did. I say we. All I did was tip some water in to the mixer , she did it all herself.Once he was baked she hollowed out a bowl shape in his belly and filled it with cheese spread. He was a tear and share dilpping bunny. And it looked and tasted fantastic. Jasmine blew and began to decorate the duck eggs that we scrounged from mum. She's using a Baltic method. Which is basically a wax resistance method. You dye the eggs , then drip on some wax, dye them again with a diffrent colour and then drip on some more wax ( we will do this step three times) After your final wax dripping you hold the eggs over a flame to melt off the wax and should be left with a beautiful design. Well, thats the idea .I will post some photos when shes finished. This afternoon Charlie asked me to watch spy kids 3 with him.I was up for it as I wasn't feeling too well and felt like a rest. But we soon ended up outside enjoying the sun. Once it had warmed up it truly was another beautiful afternoon. Robbie had a long nap and I got to relax in the sun with a coffee or two. whilst watching summer do some gymnastics and Eva trying hard to copy. Charlie and summer made an assault course from various items and then decided to find some snails. There wad trampoline jumping and swinging and sliding too. I was also treated to a manicure and pedicure from summer. Just before dinner summer and Gypsie made two more stain glass crosses like those Charlie and I made yesterday ( see previous post) This evening Jasmine and Gypsie went to the park to play football and basket ball whilst the younger ones played houses and castles before heading back outside to enjoy the last of the daylight . xxx
