This past two weeks seem to have really dashed by .as usual we have all been busy making, creating, baking and learning and we have also been celebrating.
As my trade mark saying goes " There's always a reason to celebrate !"
A week or so ago we invited Paul's dad around to dinner to celebrate his 79th birthday , I cooked him his favorite meal and Summer made his a wonderful birthday cake. He seemed to really enjoy his special evening and it really moved me that he had really gone to a lot of effort to get dressed up for the evening.Any one who knows Paul's father will know that he spends all his time up in his shed or down on his boat in his scruffy work clothes. He had even taken of his hat ! We are blessed to be getting to know him better now that he needs us that bit more. He had an accident a few months back and Summer has taken it upon herself to pop in and see him most days, to fetch his shopping and help him with his projects and shes been cooking for him too . They have developed a lovely bond.
We had so much fun celebrating Halloween . The obligatory pumpkin carving was done last Saturday and i set up a little candy apple bar for the children that evening, for them to enjoy by the light of their lack-o-lanterns.
Of course carving six pumpkins leaves you with a lot of seeds and pump and flest to deal with afterwards. Though i didn't need to concern myself with this because Summer took control of the situation. She boiled up and salted the seeds before placing them in our dehydrator for a tasty snack or to top bread, porridge or to add to our granola in the morning, she made some pumpkin puree and because we are not big fans of the flavor of pumpkin she made a very gorgeous pumpkin bath scrub for me. ( any thing left was fed to our pets)
Jasmine was a marvelous big sister and she helped Eva and Robbie make orange skin pumpkins full of orange jelly and these really cute marshmallow rice pop pumpkin treats too.
On Halloween afternoon Jasmine, Gypsie and Summer decorated the front of our house with cobwebs made of wool, bloody hand prints made from paint and spooky signs.
That night whilst Paul and i took took a little witch, the grim reaper, a zombie and Harley Quinn out trick or treating Gypsie and Jasmine stayed home to give out treats to the children who called in.
( unfortunately i was so busy with getting things all sorted for the following day that i didn't get any photos taken)
We ended the day with with our traditional treasure hunt , this year i made peg bats for the little ones and skull friendship bracelets for the older ones.
Over half term week the kids enjoyed theses free activity books that came with our grocery delivery.
There were lots of spooky puzzles inside and there was also a push out mask to decorate and the oppertunity to upload your mask to Tesco twitter page for the chance to win a £50 voucher to spend in store ......Jasmine uploaded Eva's mummified pumpkin mask ...and she was one of the winner!!!!!!! We are all so happy for her !
Eva has been really enjoying spending her time drawing, playing with clay and painting just recently.
And she taught her herself how to use the printer on her favorite websites so she can have plenty more puzzles and pictures to colour.
We recently spent a lovely morning drying lavender and rose petals and making smudge sticks .Charlie was thrilled with this as he absolutely adores herbalist.I have my eye on a book id like to get him for Christmas to help further his learning and mine too.

This past Tuesday our very gorgeous son turned ten, i cant believe it, double figures already. We had a wonderful time celebrating with a family party, with Nan and grandad, aunties, uncles and his baby nephew. He spent the majority of his special day putting together a new KNEX roller coaster kit.
On saturday evening i took the children to a local fire works display, we went along with two of my beautiful sisters and one of there boyfriends and of course my dear little nephew .
Yesterday we made a bonfire night feast of jacket potatoes, spicy barbecue beans, sausages in onion gravy and of course toffee apples.
Right now i feel very blessed to be part of such a big beautiful family, Family time is the best gift of all .
