The first day of December

Much excitement from the little ones today.. finally ...finally...December is here.

They got to open the first envelope of there advent calendar to reveal a new winter book.
They have decided amongst themselves that Eva and Charlie should take turns to do this every morning.(this lead to us talking  about odd and even numbers and Charlie worked out that he would get to open the Christmas eve envelope)

Summer decided to bake mince pies and I baked our traditional spiral bread.
We all blew out the candles together and each made a Christmas wish for someone else.

Tonight charlie lit the first candle on our advent spiral and placed the first gold star in the silky blue sky.
We are waiting on a needle felted holy family arriving in the post to be added to our display.

As the candle burnt I read some  books to the littlest ones. They gently explored the idea of hibernation and migration and introduced us to Arctic animals.
Eva also wanted to hear the story of the first Christmas.

Summer and Gypsie made some fantastic 3D snowflakes.

We have also been lucky enough to have been visited by my one of my dearest friends and one of my wonderful sisters too.

I wonder what beauty tomorrow will hold .

Xxx
